Transformation of the Day: Jillian lost over 50 pounds and 8 clothing sizes. This mom of 3 focused on working out and changing her eating habits over the course of 8 months. Caring for her ailing mother and seeing how illnesses affected her grandmother’s life motivated her to get healthy. She shared with us what led to her decision to change her life.
I started my journey in June 2016 at 198 pounds. I started working with a personal trainer who was trying to get himself established in the fitness business. I have to say that he has done a fantastic job. I was in the gym everyday for three months and that including weekends too. I had devoted all of my time completely to working out and changing my eating habits completely. I ate a lot of raw vegetables and fruit, like berries and melons. Almonds became my favorite snack. I baked and grilled all my meats and drank water for an ENTIRE year. I cherish my eating habits and love that I was able to change.
I am a daughter and mother of three beautiful boys. I also take care of my mother, who is battling diabetes and other medical complications. I knew that I didn’t want a future filled with medical, especially after seeing my grandmother die from the exact same thing.
For a long time, I didn’t take my weight seriously, because I never really had a problem with my weight. My weight was always under 140 pounds most of my life, even after having three kids. One day, I realized that I had to go up a pant size. At the time, I still just thought that a little weight gain wasn’t too bad. Before I knew it, I had put on 50 plus pounds. Found myself drinking and smoking just to except who I had become.
I ate out all the time. Every chance I got. McDonald’s, Burger King, Star Bucks, Golden Coral, etc. You name it, I ate it. I smoked for 7 years and drank beer, alcohol and wine. I also partied a lot.
The finally straw for me was that I started to have low self-esteem. This is something that I had never battled in the past. I was also just going outrageously crazy when it came to my eating habits. I was eating at all times of the night and my diet was loaded with loaded with high calorie foods. I knew that I shouldn’t do it, but I did it anyway.
Also, many of my co-workers aren’t concerned about their weight and I knew that that life wasn’t for me. I wanted to make a change and be some what of an inspiration to the people around me. I wanted to let them know that no matter how old you maybe, there’s always time for you to make a change at some part of your life.
My starting weight was 198 pounds and I now weigh 144 pounds. I am 5’5″ tall. I have been on my journey for 8 months and I’m still going strong. My advice to others: It doesn’t matter when you start, just long as you start and you keep at it.
