Weight Loss Story: Jerry lost 23 pounds. At 25 years old, this petite soror of Zeta Phi Beta wanted relief from chest pains, headaches and asthma, so she started making small changes to her lifestyle. Check out what she shared with us about her journey and how she’s taking action.
I realized that living was more important than just being pretty. I realized that it was time to start making a change. At the age of 25, I weighed 252 pounds and I’m only 5’1″ tall. I was killing myself. I couldn’t walk up the stairs without being out of breath or catching a headache. So, I decided that it was time for a change. I started eating correctly and as a teacher I started playing more with my students. I did more outdoor activities, started using the stairs instead of the elevator and did more resting. It took a while, from April 2015 until now, but it worked and I am still not finished.
My life was my motivation. Honestly, the thought of living longer is what inspired me. I could barely walk up stairs without being out of breath before. The chest pains, headaches and asthma was killing me. As far as a workouts, there was no specific routine that I did. Just started using the stairs, running around and being active with my students.
I changed my eating habits by eating just veggies, beans, and fruit. Cut out everything and I had beans for protein. No soda, juice, or alcohol, just water. In the middle photo, I weighed 252 pounds, now I weigh 229 pounds, and still in the process of trying to lose at least 45 more pounds. My advice for anyone who is trying to lose weight is to think about life, where you are now and where you want to go. Think about living and not just existing. Think about how healthy living is the Way. I realized that if I wanted to see 30 years old, something had to change.
