Transformation of the Day: Jerrica lost 63 pounds by focusing on her eating habits. She got results by eating six low-carb, portion-controlled meals each day. Her blood pressure has improved, she’s no longer pre-diabetic, and she truly enjoys working out.
What was your motivation? My motivation was many things, but getting married at my heaviest weight was the last straw (I got married in September 2020). Now, not only do I look better, but I’m no longer pre-diabetic, my blood pressure is improved, and working out is so much easier and more enjoyable.
When did you start your journey? How did you change your eating habits? I started my journey on September 28th, 2020. I started a plan called Optavia, which consists of eating six meals a day, weighing your meats, measuring veggies, and lowering my carb and caloric intake. I lost weight during the first four months just with dietary changes.
What does your workout routine consist of? Over the past few months, I have incorporated HIIT workouts at home and cardio/weight training at the gym two times a week (recently increased to three days a week).
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
Starting weight: 258.8 pounds
Current weight: 195.4 pounds
What is your height?
My height is 5’5″.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No weight loss surgery.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned so far is that you have to be prepared mentally during a weight loss journey. Your emotional reasons for eating a certain way or choosing pleasure over health really come to light, and you have to heal yourself emotionally during this journey.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
My biggest advice is just to start and don’t give up, even if you slip up.
