Transformation of the Day: Jeleesa lost 55 pounds. During her transformation journey, she pulled herself out of depression and self-loathing. Her results didn’t come from some magical plan, just a combination of healthy eating habits, patience, and exercise. Check out her story.
This transformation goes farther than the physical change. I gained confidence and strength that pulled me out of the deepest depression and self-loathing. I wish I could say I did something magical to lose fat and gain muscle, but I busted my ass and pushed myself forward every morning.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation came from myself. I’m not sure how that sounds, but one day I woke up and I got so disappointed in myself. I was disappointed not only because of how I saw myself, but it was the fact that I didn’t see myself at all. I was lost.
I was inspired to keep going because I wasn’t getting tired while running after my kids anymore. Also, my skin was clearing, and my identity started coming back.
How did you change your eating habits?
I literally threw out all the stuff that contributed to my sense of doubt and things that were going to put me back in that dark place. I stopped drinking caffeine and soda. I stopped snacking on chips and cookies. I also started eating more veggies and fruit.
I didn’t start any drastic diet plans or buy any programs. It’s so true that if you make a couple of changes and you look at things positively, you can change your life.
What did your workout routine consist of?
My workout routine consisted of three days of cardio, two days of strength and two days off. I mixed dancing with working out on the elliptical at home. I would take some 10-pound dumbbells and work my arms and abs…really simple, really basic. I limited my workouts to no more than an hour unless I was dancing, which brightens my mood and burns lots of calories.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 190ish pounds, and my current weight is 135ish pounds, lol.
What is your height?
5’3″
Was weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No surgery
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started at the end of June 2018, and I reached my current results in 9 months.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
Patience, patience, patience.
What advice do you have for people who want to lose weight?
Be patient. I promise that day will come when you realize you were always this strong and that you could always do it all along. Be consist. Don’t do today what you’re going to regret for days to come. Give yourself incentives, not cheats, because you are just living your life… not doing something wrong.
Remember that you are amazing! We are all different, and that is what makes us stand stronger.
