Weight Loss Transformation of the Day: Jeanine lost 79 pounds. After a terrible wake up call at an amusement park, she vowed to do something about her weight. Her story reflects the truth that what works for one person may not work for all. She was willing to go through the trial and error that it often takes to succeed and eventually found a plan and a coach who help her reach victory over the pounds. Here is what she shared with us about her journey…
Starting weight: 289 pounds (summer 2013)
Current weight: 210 pounds
Height: 5’8″
My motivation:
I love amusement parks and in the summer of 2013 my family went to a park. That’s when the unthinkable happened. I was asked to get off of a ride because the restraint would not buckle properly. This happened twice. It was incredibly embarrassing and I felt like I let my daughter down because I couldn’t ride. It was then that I vowed to do something about my weight.
Eating habits:
I tried on my own to eat what I thought was healthy. That included lots of vegetables and protein. I have a huge sweet addiction and I cut back on that too. However, it wasn’t working. I met with the dietician at work who gave me a set of daily calories to follow using the food groups. I struggled to figure out what to eat in each group and how much of it to eat. This plan wasn’t working either. I came across Wiltrina Jones on Facebook. I watched her for nearly a year before deciding to take a chance. She writes meal plans for me that lay out what to eat, how much, and how often. This was just what I needed.
Workout:
I started training with BodyStyle Personal Fitness twice per week in summer of 2014. I needed the accountability. When I wasn’t with my trainer, Adrian, I was doing an hour of cardio 2-3 days per week. That involved doing 30 minutes on any 2 of the cardio machines each session. I also did 20 or 30 minutes of exercise videos in the morning. In February, I started exercising on my own. I continued with the exercise videos and did cardio 2-3 days per week. I also did the circuit provided by Planet Fitness a few times per week. Recently, a change in my work schedule required me to work out more at home. I’m now doing an at home exercise plan designed by Wiltrina.
My transformation is ongoing. I started in summer of 2013 and lost 40 lbs on my own, only to gain most of it back. I lost 15 lbs by training with Adrian, but I still struggled with my eating habits. I lost 60 lbs since August 2014 working with Wiltrina.
Advice:
Every diet plan/workout out there works, but it might not work for you. Keep trying until you find something that works for you and fits your lifestyle. At the same time, losing weight requires a change in mindset and behaviors. You will not be able to keep doing the same thing and eating the same things. It’s a long, hard journey that can get discouraging, but you have to keep going. Find a support group if you need to but just don’t give up on you. You are so worth it.
