Transformation of the Day: Jasmine lost 65 pounds. She wanted to feel comfortable again and live a healthy lifestyle for her daughter and herself. So she figured out the right mix of exercise and nutrition, including healthy portion sizes and kickboxing.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
What motivated me was me! My goal was getting me back to “my comfortable” and being healthy for myself and my daughter!
What inspired me was seeing the number on the scale drop but also feeling better about myself because I literally felt better. My asthma was under control, I had more energy, and I slept better.
How did you change your eating habits?
I eat what I want moderately ( only eating proper serving sizes). My diet mainly consists of fish, chicken, one protein shake, one protein smoothie, and a gallon of water. I don’t snack much, but I adhere to healthy serving sizes if I do. I also incorporate Intermittent Fasting in my routine (16:8).
What did your workout routine consist of? How many days a week did you work out?
My workout routine consists of walking, dancing, skating, but most importantly, KICKBOXING! I love to kickbox, and I work out 3 to 4 days a week, doing two workouts a day. My second workout is usually anaerobic exercises (weight lifting/HIIT).
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 225 pounds, and my current weight is 160 pounds.
What is your height?
I’m 5 feet tall.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I officially started my journey in May 2020 by walking around my neighborhood to improve my mental health. Then I found kickboxing in September 2020, and it took off from there. After about six months of kickboxing, I added dancing/Zumba. I keep the same routine weekly, with slight variations in my workouts. (Example: Kickboxing 3 days a week, dancing, or possibly skating another day.)
My transformation took two years, and the changes weren’t apparent until early 2021.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that I CAN do whatever I truly put my mind, body, heart, and soul into! I did this for ME! I’m so proud of myself! It took hard work and dedication, but I did it! Even during my darkest days, I still chose myself!
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
If I can do it, so can you! We have to do better for ourselves. We only get one body, and it’s important to take care of our bodies! I know it’s not easy. It’s demanding, but it’s a journey. Results don’t come overnight!
If you really want better for self, you will do better for self. Be gentle with yourself but go hard. Take it one day at a time. When it gets hard, pray for strength, that’s what I did! You will have distractions, but the goal is to keep going! Let’s go!!!
