Transformation of the Day: Jasmine lost 60 pounds. She was tired of hearing, “You’re so pretty for a big girl.” She was tired of not being able to wear clothes she loved and of being out of breath while taking the stairs. So, she accepted responsibility and changed her life. Check out how she did it.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
I got tired. I was tired of hearing, ‘You’re so pretty for a big girl.’ I was tired of being out of breath while walking up the stairs. I was tired of not being able to wear clothes that I liked. I was tired of being tired. So, I chose to stop being tired.
How did you change your eating habits?
I tried numerous things; Keto, intermittent fasting, low carb, etc. Ultimately, I learned that you have to be in a calorie deficit. It’s all about calories in vs. calories out. I try not to completely deprive myself of foods that I love because if I do, I’ll binge. So I try to reward myself once or twice a week with a free meal/snack. My trainer, @sixpackfuel, also provides nutritional guidance.
What did your workout routine consist of?
I hated doing regular cardio, so I started by taking kickboxing class 4-5 days a week at 9Round. I now do cardio/kickboxing about 4-5 days a week and strength training two days a week with @sixpackfuel. You can check out some of my workout videos on my Instagram.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 298 pounds, and my current weight is 238 pounds.
What is your height?
5’10”.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey about two years ago, but it took a while for me to become consistent. I’m still on this journey of healthy living.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, I didn’t have surgery.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
Don’t compare yourself to other people. Everyone has their own journey.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
Life is all about choices. Every choice you make makes you. You are either going to choose to accept things as they are, or you’re going to choose to accept responsibility and change your life.
On those days when you feel like giving up, choose perseverance. When you’re having those late-night cravings, choose healthy options. When you’re on that last mile, choose five more minutes. Every day, when you wake up, choose to be a better you! If you want a different result, you have to make a different choice.
