Transformation of the Day: Jasmine lost 58 pounds. This mom of 4 wanted to love her body and no longer wanted to be achy and out of breath. During her 2 year journey she not only figured out what works for her, but she also gave birth to her son. Check out her story.
My name is Jasmine and I am 27 years old. I started this weight loss journey 2 years ago and it was a long and scary journey. I am a mother of four. I hated my body, the way it looked and felt. My body was always aching and I was constantly out of breath. I couldnt keep up with my kids at all.
To begin, I started to eat healthier and changed my portion sizes. I switched from eating a full plate of food to eating much smaller amounts. I cut out soda and juice and instead focused on drinking infused water and ice cold water. I also talked to a few nutritionists who showed me the proper way to eat and I learned to chew correctly.
The healthy foods I started eating were grill chicken salads, steamed vegetables, a lot of homemade soups, seafood and sushi. I also continued to eat foods that I love, like pie, cakes, and fried foods… just in smaller portions. I use to eat a whole pie of pizza from Papa Johns by myself. Now, I wouold only eat a slice. Once I changed my poor eating habits, the weight fell off and it fell off quickly.
I did a lot of walking. I found that the gym wasn’t for me, even though it works for most people. I it felt like a chore. I focused on walking and I would take walks in areas with an incline around the neighborhood while pushing my son in his stroller. My mom had a treadmill that was just accumulating dust. I did 30 minutes a day on it. I also did weight training with small weights and lots of yoga.
During my weight loss journey I became pregnant with my son. It was a weight loss miracle! I didn’t gain any weight during pregnancy, in fact I lost weight while being pregnant. Since I was already very overweight, the doctors said I was fine.
My starting weight was 308 pounds and I am 5’2″. I now weigh 150 pounds even. July 2014 is the month I decided to start this weight loss journey. I didn’t see results until around December of that year. I have surpassed my initial goals and I feel so much more healthier and happier.
My advice for anyone who wants to lose weight would be to stay focused, don’t give up, and
take it slow. This isn’t a magic trick, it’s a life change.
