Jasmine lost 40 pounds. As she’s gotten older, she’s seen the pounds pile on and wasn’t able to do all of the things she could do when she was younger. That had to change. She connected with a trainer who taught her how to get results by counting macros and focusing on strength training. Check out her story.
Hello, my BWLW sisters. My name is Jasmine and I’ll be 28 years old this year. What got me started on my weight loss journey? I never had a problem with my weight. However, as I aged, I saw that I couldn’t do the same things I was able to do when I was younger. The pounds just piled on. I could dress it up good, but deep down inside I knew I wasn’t happy.
So, I began training. I worked with a few personal trainers here and there, but I wasn’t getting the results I wanted or was looking for. One day, as I was scrolling through Instagram, I saw a post on Buffy the Body’s @brickbuiltapparel page shouting out this trainer and his client’s results. Once I saw that, I hopped on the trainer’s page and inquired about training with him. Skip Fitness is the trainer and I am glad to say it’s one of the best programs I’ve ever done… EVER!.
What is so great about what I’m doing? I’m pretty much eating regular food everyday. Skip taught me about macronutrients/macros and calories before we even got a chance to workout.
What’s another plus about what we’ve been doing? I’m only working out 2 days a week doing a Strength/Hypertrophy hybrid program. I exercise for 45 minutes to 1 hour one day and 20-40 minutes the second day. I’m not doing any cardio, which is amazing in itself.
I’ve lost 40 pounds. Started this journey on August 23, 2015 and my starting weight was 221 pounds. I currently weigh 181 pounds. My height is 5’9″. I’m going on my second year working with him and I’m still seeing improvements. I continue to follow the same recommendations of working out 2 days a week and eating what I want, as long as it fits within the context of my prescribed calories for that day.
Last summer, I looked great under Skip’s guidance, but this summer is going to be even BETTER! Now, I have the confidence to wear the 2 piece bikini and not have to worry about how I look. Although we’re not doing any cardio, I recently had to run for the bus with shopping bags in my hand and trust me, I was just fine. Didn’t even break a sweat.
In conclusion, I’ll say to all the ladies, “You can do it.” If I can do it, you can do it too. What really helped me the most was Skip telling me to slow down and concentrate. When I stopped making it a race to lose as much as I could as fast as I could, that’s when a lot of the magic happened.
