What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
One morning, after showering and preparing for my day, I stepped into my favorite pair of jeans, only to find out they would not go over my hips without a fight. The jeans were tight and forget the button. There was no way I could possibly button my pants. My last resort was a pair of black stretch pants. This was the moment that I said, “Enough is enough”.
I remembered working with the best nutritional coach, Terry Starks (a.k.a “The Diet Doctor”), years ago. I knew it was time to reconnect. I contacted Terry, and he immediately jumped into action. He sent meal plans for each week and motivational messages as a constant reminder to stay focused. Terry was the push I needed. When I felt like quitting, his messages would come at the right time. Terry’s consistent support helped me stay devoted to my weight loss journey.
How did you change your eating habits?
Terry’s Program offers rotating meal plans tailored to each person’s unique needs. My plan consisted of a balance of protein, fruits, vegetables, and limited whole grains. I consumed my food in small portions throughout the day.
What is your workout routine?
A significant component of the plan is exercise. Terry instructs each person on how many minutes of cardio they should complete each day. My routine started at 30 minutes of cardio a day and gradually increased to 30 minutes of cardio twice a day.
Terry then decided I needed more of a push and bumped it to 40 minutes twice a day. I alternated between a dance workout class, walking/jogging on the treadmill, and some weight lifting.
How often did you work out?
Thanks to Terry (In my Sarcastic Voice ), I work out every day, twice a day. However, there is definitely a method to the madness. It has actually become a habit that I look forward to each day.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 247 pounds, and my current weight is 217 pounds.
What is your height?
I am 5 feet even.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I will never forget. I started my journey on November 27, 2023, the Monday after Thanksgiving. I was over feeling heavy and not looking/feeling my best. I have completed seven weeks with Terry, losing 30 pounds within such a short time. I am still under his guidance and look forward to a healthier and better me.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I have learned so far is to stay off of the scale and be patient. Terry stresses this. We only used the scale twice. I like this concept because the scale doesn’t always reflect the inches and body fat that are lost in the process.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, No, No! To each their own. I don’t judge anyone’s process. But, as for me and this body… I have opted to complete my journey the natural way. It’s challenging, and it takes time. However, it gives me a chance to learn what my body likes and dislikes. This is important overall to achieve true balance and health within.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
The best advice I have for women who want to lose weight is to START. Don’t wait for next month, Sis. Start now! Be patient with your body as it changes. Trust the process. The weight didn’t come overnight, and it won’t leave overnight, but it will surely melt away! Maintain consistency, even on the days you feel like quitting. Pray your way through and keep going. Most importantly, contact “The Diet Doctor” TERRY STARKS. He will not disappoint!
