Transformation of the Day: Jasmaine lost 65 pounds. After the birth of her second child, headaches, knee pain and heart palpitations motivated her to take action. She was also aware of a family history of diabetes and wanted to avoid it. Check out how she shed the pounds.
What was your motivation?
I was insipired to start my weight loss journey after having my second child. I started having horrible headaches, knee pain and heart palpitations. Since diabetes ran in my family, I knew that I didn’t want to be it’s next victim!
I saw a holistic doctor (New Body Nutrition) and did a 21 day detox, which jump started my weight loss. The detox consisted of just water and herbs that I received from the doctor for the first 5 days. Then, I incorporated fruits and veggies throughout the rest of the 21 days. No meat or fish during this detox.
How did you change your eating habits after the detox?
I meal prep and I limit my intake sweets. I don’t drink soda or juice, and I have a cheat meal once a week.
What does your workout routine look like?
I workout 4-5 days a week. My workouts consist of weight training and 45 minutes of cardio.
Starting weight/Current weight
I’m 5 feet, 6 inches tall and I’ve loss 65 pounds. My starting weight was 305 pounds. I’m still working on creating a better me everyday. My current weight: I dont know, lol. I don’t weigh myself because the scale was ruining my motivation. Honestly, I gage my progress by how my clothes fit.
How long have you been on your weight loss journey?
I started in March 2015.
What advice would you share with other people who want to lose weight?
Take it one meal at a time! Losing weight is not easy and the weight does not just fall off. Consistency is key. Also, love yourself through the journey AND sleep. Get your rest ladies! Sleep is just as important as working out. Your body has to recuperate.
What is the biggest lesson you learned?
Get to know YOUR body and what works for you! Every journey us different. Just because someone else dropped 25 pounds in a month doesn’t mean that you will do the same. Also, it’s important to have fun during this journey. I hope that my story inspires someone else to live a healthier life!
