Transformation of the Day: Janeé lost 80 pounds. As a wife and stay a home mother of two, she knows how easily you can ignore your needs in favor of others. Over the years, she slipped into depression and ignored her diagnoses for high blood pressure and pre-diabetes. In 2019, she joined a gym and began to transform her life with assistance from excellent trainers. Now, she is thriving and has become a certified group trainer.
My height is 4’11” (59″). When I began my journey on February 4th, 2019, I was just as big around as I am tall. My waist measured 56″, my BMI was 53, and my fat percentage was 53.
My starting weight was 267 pounds, and my blood pressure would average 179/110. My current weight is 187 pounds, and my goal weight is 167 pounds. After I reach my goal, I will determine if I want to continue losing or begin maintaining.
What was your motivation?
As a wife and a stay at home mother of two, it’s easy to put everyone else’s needs in front of your own. While taking care of my family, I slipped into a depression, which lasted for three years. During that time, I gained over 50 pounds. I didn’t become motivated to change my life for the better until I actually joined the gym. Even after being diagnosed with high blood pressure and pre-diabetes, I didn’t make any changes for another two years. On February 4th, 2019, I stepped into Atl Elite Fitness in Atlanta, GA, and it saved my life.
How did you change your eating habits?
I changed my eating habits by following the meal plan that came with my gym membership – a high protein plan with veggies, 1/2 serving of carbs for breakfast and lunch, and no carbs for dinner. I could have 1 tbsp of fat, but only if I trained in the gym on that day.
I also implemented intermittent fasting because I noticed that if I workout after eating, it makes me sluggish. I didn’t want to be the big slow girl, so once I saw the difference food made in my performance, I made a change. I also had to limit my carb intake, which was the biggest obstacle of all.
Tell us about your workout routine.
My workouts were HIIT (high-intensity interval training) group training, with cardio before and after. I started by working out two days a week because that’s what I could afford. My trainer saw my passion and was determined to help me reach my goals, so they offered me five days a week, at the same price. I jumped on that deal and began training for two hours a day, five days a week.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
The biggest lesson I have learned is that anything I put my mind to, I can accomplish it. Since beginning my journey, I have become a certified group trainer. After being overweight all of my life, I never in a million years thought fitness would be my passion. I know the awesome feelings that I felt when my trainers poured into me, and I want to give others that same joy.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
Don’t wait for the time to feel right; just do it. Most importantly, do not compare your journey to mine or anyone else’s. Stay consistent and don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Great job with your journey and with your new found love for fitness. It is a blessing to share what you have learned with others. Keep up the great work and push others to do the same thing.. I would love to see some of the meal plans that you used to help start your journey, if that is possible
