Transformation of the Day: Janay lost 96 pounds. She wanted to ensure that she would be there to see her child grow up. She also wanted to avoid having to take high blood pressure meds again. By becoming a Pescatarian and working hard in the gym she got awesome results. Check out her journey.
When did you start your journey?
I started my journey on July 31, 2017.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
My motivation is my health and ensuring that I live to see my child grow up. When I wanted to quit, I would look at old pictures of myself. I never want to get back to that place in my life again or have to get back on high blood pressure medications.
How did you change your eating habits?
When I began my journey, I started a Vegetarian diet. After about 8 months, I changed to a Pescatarian diet. [Vegetarian who eats seafood] I still don’t eat beef, chicken, pork, etc.
What did your workout routine look like?
In the beginning, I worked out 4-5 days a week doing 1 hour of cardio and nothing else. Looking back now, I don’t recommend just cardio. I recommend adding some strength training into your routine along with cardio. Now, I’m trying to maintain my weight loss, so I exercise 3-4 days per week doing 30 minutes of cardio and strength training.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 290 pounds and my current weight is 194 pounds. I’m 5’6″. (I did not have weight loss surgery.)
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that you will make mistakes and have slip-ups but you cannot be too hard on yourself. You just have to start over and try not to make the same mistake again. I also learned the importance of patience during this journey.
What advice would you like to share with people who want to release the weight?
My advice is to make sure that you’re doing it for the right reason, and that reason is for yourself. If not, you’ll never be happy with your results.

So encouraging to hear how you have worked through your journey and don’t stop the struggle ever. That’s what I did and it’s so hard to get started again but something you wrote sparked a motivating point “do it for yourself”. Thank you

Fantastic job, you look fabulous!
Can you please share any tips you have for that belly you’re showing off in the last picture? I’m thinking strength training will do it but whatever you suggest I’ll try!
You’re beautiful!
