Today’s weight loss success story: Jamila lost 100 pounds. She joined the non-surgical weight loss program at a bariatric clinic for obesity.
“It’s official…I’ve lost 100lbs!!! I started this journey August 2011, once I weighed 244lbs. I started with P90x and lost 35lbs after the 90 days. I gained some of the weight back. I was able to maintain 215lbs for about 6 months with a lot of work. Once I started inching back up to 220lbs…I decided enough was enough so in July/August 2012, I went to a bariatric clinic for obesity and joined their non-surgical weight loss program, at that time I was 217lbs. Following their suggestions for exercise (move at least 45 minuter a day and do strength training 2-3 times a week) and for lifestyle changes, i.e. diet (1000 calories a day, 50 grams of carbs, 60-90 grams of protein, 8 cups of water, and serving size of 1 cup per meal), I lost 10lbs the first week. I was down 50lbs within 5 months. As of today, 20 months after starting my journey and after 7 months after joining the weight loss program, I have lost over 100lbs, 13% body fat, and gained 1 million percent self esteem, energy, and a renewed look on life.”

That is wonderful. I am starting my weight loss journey this month. How many calories per meal did you eat and how many times did you eat a day?
Jamila says
I eat anywhere from 50-200 calories per meal. I only have 1000 calories per day so I have to be careful. I only eat when I am hungry, so that is about 6 to 7 times per day. I eat breakfast (<100 cal) around 5:30am, I eat a snack (200 cal) at 8:30am, I eat another snack around 10:30a to 11:00a (100-200 cal), I eat lunch around 12:30-1:00p (100-200 cal), I eat a snack around 3:00p (100 cal), I eat dinner around 6:00p-6:30p (100-200 cal), then maybe a snack around 7:30p.

Did you have to take any pills on the weight loss plan,?
Connye says
Thank you Jamila, this post was so helpful…Most people just tell you they changed to clean eating with no examples. I am a visual person and this gives me something to work with. I have started my journey at 46 and I need to loose 50lbs and my daughter needs to loose 60lbs. I know this is going to help us with our journey.
You are an inspiration, you look greattttttt

I appreciate how you share your struggles of gaining then maintaining. I lost fifty pounds, gained fifteen of them back, lose five of the fifteen I gained in the last year. I will lose another forty pounds to get to 150.
