What was your motivation?
My motivation was to get healthy for my son. I knew I wanted to be the best parent I could potentially be. However, I realized I wasn’t living as my best self.
My main goal was to heal myself, inside and out, so I could show up as the parent I’ve always dreamed of being. What started as ANOTHER weight loss journey turned into a change of mindset. I realized that if I gave up on being healthy, I was essentially giving up on myself, so there wasn’t a choice to give up.
When did you start this phase of your journey?
I started losing weight and working out consistently again in March 2021. It took me about a year and a half to lose over 100 lbs.
How did you change your eating habits?
I started losing weight by doing Keto. Although I lost 50lbs with Keto, I knew that wasn’t the life I wanted to live. So I switched my diet by limiting my carb intake, making healthier eating habits, and practicing portion control. I also practice intermittent fasting so I don’t fall victim to late-night snacking.
I make sure that I get my fruits, vegetables, and protein. I also make sure that I limit my sugar and carbs intake.

Tell us about your workout routine.
My workout routine is daily yoga for 30 minutes. I also like to take walks throughout the week, and I’m always in my room dancing. Yoga has really been a game changer for me on this journey because it doesn’t just help you physically. It also helps strengthen your mental and emotional health as well.
Starting weight/Current weight
My starting weight on this journey was 310 pounds. My current weight now is 200 pounds.
What is your height?
My height is 5’7.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
I did not have any weight loss surgery.
What is the biggest lesson you’re learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to do what makes me feel good. A friend mentioned Chakra balancing, and during my yoga instructor training courses, there was a whole session on Chakra healing. Chakra balancing plays a huge part in health and weight loss.
When you are in alignment, your drive and motivation are at an all-time high, making you feel invisible. As a woman, I noticed that I tended to emotionally eat. With Chakra healing, I learned to be aware of my emotions and feelings so I could prevent myself from falling into the trap of my emotions and overeating when feeling anxiety or depression.
Mental health played a huge part in this journey, and I feel that it is essential when looking for a lifestyle change and not just temporary weight loss.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
My advice for any woman who wants to lose weight is to take her time and find a route that makes her feel good. Do whatever makes you feel happy.
I found my peace and happiness in my bedroom on a yoga mat. You do not have to do strenuous workouts and spend several hours at the gym to see results. There are several different types of yoga/workouts, and different strength levels that you can start that are perfect for any beginner. Even today, If I’m just not feeling a workout, I will do 30 minutes of restorative practice/beginners yoga, not break a sweat. However, I will still see a difference in my body, and the scale will eventually follow. So there is no rush when it comes to your life. TAKE YOUR TIME, SIS.

Inspiring commentary! Everything that was said hit home and she has done something that I dream of doing. I’ve also had a vision and I can see myself as a thinner version. I have a daughter and I want her to be proud of me. I want to be proud of myself. I feel almost everything you mentioned here. Keep going and thank you for the tips.
