Ishea lost 5kg/11 pounds. This fitness coach wanted to feel more confident and more present in her own body. She also wanted to practice what she preaches to show the people she works with how to release the weight.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation was my desire to feel good. I was chasing the ‘feel good’ feeling. I wanted to be confident and, most importantly, feel present in my own body. Additionally, I am a trained fitness coach, so I wanted to show my clients how to lose weight and have myself as an example of the things that I preach.
How did you change your eating habits?
I don’t believe in restrictive diets, so I opted for cutting down my portions instead. I could eat anything I wanted but just in smaller portions. Additionally, I allowed myself to have two guilt-free cheat days each week (one on Wednesday and another on Saturday). The reason I did this was because it trained my mind to be disciplined for five days out of the week. So I knew there would be a “reward” for two days during the same week.
As a fitness coach, I have put together a quick and handy guide with more details of how I lost weight.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
I worked out for only two days a week. On one day, I did heavy weight training, and on another day, I did a 1-hour yoga class. So often, people think that you have to exercise excessively to be successful on your fitness journey. However, I believe in doing what you can with the time you have, instead of not doing anything because you think you don’t have time. Whatever you can do is enough.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
Starting weight: 65kg
Current weight: 60kgs
What is your height?
5 feet, 3 inches tall
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started on 1st November 2021. These pics show my 6-8 weeks of progress.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey? N/A
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I have learned that it’s a mindset game – it’s all about training your mind to be consistent and disciplined. Whatever tricks/games you can play in your mind will be the key to transforming your body and any other area of your life.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Start where you are with what you have, and do what you can. Don’t overwhelm your mind with big plans, goals, or leaps. Simply focus on one day at a time, and do what you can in that one day. Then wake up the following day and repeat.
If today you can only work out for 15 minutes, great. Do that. Or if you can only promise yourself to eat clean today, great. Focus on that. Then wake up the following day and repeat. With time, you will see how these small steps have been the key to reaching your ultimate goals.
