Transformation of the Day: Harmony lost 40 pounds. After experiencing college weight gain and pregnancy weight gain over the years, this petite diva made a vow to start living a more healthy life. She joined a local boot camp and found the inspiration she needed. Now, she works for that same boot camp as a trainer. Here is what she shared with us about her weight loss journey…
I started my weight loss journey in March. I have always been fit and healthy, but somewhere/sometime I lost time for myself. I developed unhealthy habits and did little to no exercise. Starting college also added to my weight gain. When I found out I was pregnant, the weight I was at that current moment should have been my pregnancy gain weight. I made a vow to start living a more healthier life from that moment forward.
After having my son I decided to join a Boot camp. I was hesitant at first simply because of the word “Boot camp”. However, God knew who exactly to place me with because I am still with them today after 8 months! I started my weight loss journey in March weighing in at 172 pounds (height: I am 5’2 with a 6’5 spirit). My boot camp had a 90 day challenge and I entered, since I am very competitive. I totally stopped eating fast food and had to wean myself off of junk food. I started cooking my meals and made sure each meal had protein, vegetables and starch. In boot camp, they centered their workouts around HIIT exercises. From there, the weight just began to come off!
When the challenge concluded after 90 days, I was down to 141! Now, I’ve lost a total of 40 pounds since I started my journey in March. It feels amazing and I feel so much more healthier. Mean Green Bootcamp is such a great group of people. They believed in me so much that they hired me as one of their trainers!
Currently, I run 2-3 miles everyday. On Mondays, I do upper body workouts for an hour along with my cardio. On Wednesdays, I focus on lower body exercises as well as cardio for an hour. Finally, on Friday I complete a full body workout with cardio for an hour and on Sundays I rest. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I just run my 2-3 miles.
I like to tell everyone that if I can do it then anyone could do it. The truth is you must first believe you can do it, achieve it, and then receive it! You can follow more of my story on my Instagram, @cyrus_universe or Twitter: @AthenaVsCyrus
