Transformation of the Day: Gabriella lost 41 pounds. Meal planning and cooking her meals at home paid off. Her workout routine is a mix of cardio and weight training. Check out her story.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation was to become healthier and get in shape. Also, I bought some jeans in a size 11 and couldn’t fit them. That’s when I know I had to get started on my journey.
I started a lot of diets in the past, and I would quit. My inspiration to keep going was Instagram. I watched a lot of weight loss journey, and I told myself, “That could be me.”
How did you change your eating habits?
I cut out salt, sugar and junk food. I started to cook all my meals and plan out my meals. I eat a lot of lean protein, green veggies, and fruit. After I started losing weight (seeing physical changes), I added carbs, protein shakes, and protein bars to up my protein intake. I also drink A LOT of water.
What did your workout routine consist of?
My workout routine, in the beginning, was a lot of cardio. I did strength training in between. Months later, I began doing heavy lifting (I love it). I workout five days per week. I do lower body three times a week, upper body two times a week and 15 minutes of cardio for warm up. I sprinkle in a little abs session on my lower body days.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
I started at 171 pounds, and now I weigh 130 pounds.
What is your height?
I’m 5’5”.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey on January 7, 2018. It took me one year and counting.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No surgery! All natural!
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
I’ve learned to be patient, to be honest with myself and to be consistent.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
I encourage you to start, be consistent and never give up. It’s not a race, so be patient. Change will come! You have to want it for yourself. Love yourself on the way to a healthier life. Your body will thank you for it.
