Transformation of the Day: Francine lost 52 pounds. She was tired of the social isolation, depression, and embarrassment she experienced after gaining weight. The Keto diet paired with consistent cardio and strength training worked for her.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
My motivation to begin losing weight and see it through was being tired of dealing with the social isolation, depression, and embarrassment of becoming so heavy.
When I wanted to give up, I thought about the promise I made to myself. I created an IG weight loss page for motivation and to share my journey with others for the pressure of following through.
How did you change your eating habits?
I initially changed my eating habits by only allowing myself snacks/carbs/junk food on holidays or special occasions. Then, I began to eat a keto/low carb diet. I cut out carbs/starches and stopped eating out. I DO NOT drink soda, including diet soda.
What did your workout routine consist of?
I lost most of the weight just by dieting. I exercised here and there, but nothing consistent or hardcore until later in my journey. Now, I work out at least four days a week. I converted a storage area into a gym, so I row for cardio and lift weights.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
I began this journey at 198 pounds and size 12 jeans. I weighed 180 pounds when I started Keto. My lowest weight was 141 pounds, and now I am at a healthy146 pounds wearing size 4 jeans. I’ve lost 50+ lbs and eight jean sizes. I no longer weigh myself because it can be discouraging. My focus is now maintenance and toning/definition.
What is your height?
I am 5’2″.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
From the time I started making small changes up until now, it has been a year and a half. Dec 3rd will be my Ketoversary.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
I have not had weight loss surgery. I am working on toning to deal with the small amount of excess skin I have.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that if I am faithful to myself, I will succeed in whatever I set out to do. I’ve been trying to lose weight since I was in high school. At 34 years old, with dedication, commitment, and consistency, I have lost the weight. I will keep it off with my new low-carb lifestyle paired with consistent cardio and strength training.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
Start with small changes (subjective) and go from there. Create a plan and don’t deviate. Also, stay away from the scale the first month and then only do monthly weigh-ins because the scale can be deceiving and discouraging. Inches could be falling off while the scale doesn’t move, so don’t focus too much on the number. Every sacrifice and mental/emotional battle will be well worth it when you see your results!
