Transformation of the Day: Flora lost 22 pounds by walking and eating healthy meals. She also saw her blood pressure improve significantly. She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. So when one of her sisters got results with a weight loss program, she decided to try it.
My weight loss journey has been a challenging one that I must share to help anyone I possibly can on their journey.
On December 27, 2021, I gave birth to my youngest daughter. A few days after, I began to experience post-partum pre-eclampsia. From this time until I started my journey, I was not able to get my blood pressure 100% regulated. Also, my weight would not decrease past 176 lbs no matter what I did. Being 5’3″ and 176 ounds was no fun.
One day I was on Facebook and saw that one of my in-laws and sorors (Oh yes! I am a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.) had been working with this guy Terry Starks. She looked OUTSTANDING!! I just had to reach out to him. After I reached out and he contacted me, my life changed drastically.
I began the program on January 9, 2023, and lost weight during my first week! The BEST part of this program is that I could eat foods that I love in smaller portions and was NEVER hungry!
My blood pressure went from 146/90 to 116/85. It did not take weeks of challenging, strenuous exercise. Instead, it took commitment and dedication to walking approx. 30 minutes a day. When I wanted to give up, my husband and oldest daughter would not allow me to. Whenever I thought about being readmitted to the hospital twice because of my blood pressure during the pre-eclampsia, I knew I wanted to live for my family and could not quit.
The meals were so easy to prepare IN ADVANCE (like salads, grilled chicken, Brussels sprouts, etc.). This made my life super easy because when it was time to eat, I would just grab a meal and go. Although I loved pizza and fried fish, I had to give it up for this great program if I wanted to see results.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
Starting weight: 176 pounds 1/9/2023
Weight as of 2/15/2023: 154 pounds
What motivates you to keep going?
My biggest motivation was waking up and feeling lighter.
Was weight loss surgery part of your journey?
Surgery was never an option for me as I want to make sure that I am making every effort to get the weight off as naturally.
What advice would you like to share?
My advice to my sisters out there is to NEVER GIVE UP ON GOD!! It was only God who led me to Terry Starks. I wanted to live to continue my purpose and to enjoy my loved ones. My reason for sharing my journey is to help as many of my sisters who are struggling.
Terry always reminds me that it didn’t take a day to gain it, so I have to give my body time to lose it. He’s not only just my certified nutritionist, but he has become a great motivation.
