Busy mom Shyra wrote in to share her progress and her intense workout routines. Her past and where she came from can’t stop her. She wants to be an example of healthy, fit living for her daughter, the youth she works with and other women who want to change their lives.
I am currently working with a personal trainer that I see 3 days a week at 7 AM in the morning. I am a mother of a 12 year old girl and I work with inner city youth who I love! My motivation comes from them. I always tell them that you can do anything you put your mind to, so I had to live by example. One of my goals is to give my city a Half Marathon in the “hood”, a place we call home! My daughter and I also take boxing lessons together once a week.
My first goal was to teach myself that I can can say no to what the world calls food. I eat all raw, whole foods and I make my own smoothies every morning. My smoothies consist of spinach, milk, blueberries, banana and peanut butter. I’m 34 years old. My goal is to be in the best shape that I have ever been in and to be an example to other women. I want to show them that age doesn’t matter. I use my Facebook page to help keep women inspired.
I know that where you come from doesn’t determine your destination! I have come out of an abusive relationship and I use that pain to fuel my hard work. I put it all into my workouts. Tupac said, “For every dark night, there’s a brighter day.” I tell myself that every morning. Here are a couple of pictures of my morning routine!
