Great Transformation: Felecia lost 71 pounds. One year away from her 50th birthday, she was dealing with diabetes and high blood pressure. She called on God to give her the strength to change her life, so that she can be there for her 5 grandchildren. There is nothing stopping her now and she’s encouraging others with her story.
I want to encourage more people out there to get healthy! Months ago, I made up my mind to get healthy. I am almost 50 years old and I did not want to go into my 50s being obese and miserable. I turned my life completely around. I changed my eating habits and exercised regularly.
I wanted to give up so many times, but I prayed to God for favor, mercy and grace. God saw me through the despair and I am still motivated todays. Aug 2nd will mark my 1 year anniversary. I hope to have lost at least a total of 100 pounds by then. The fact that a lot of people call me for motivation and inspiration makes me want to continue my struggle.
Motivation: I went to the doctor and they told me I had to be put on type 2 diabetes medicine. I panicked because my brother and grandfather were insulin dependent. I was not going to be another statistic. I got on my knees and I prayed to God, “Please let me be in my 5 grandkids lives.” Then it clicked. You can do it!
So, the week after my 49th birthday, I cut all the bad stuff out. I started eating low carb, low fat meals. I cut out red meat, fried food, junk food, soda and starches. I do some type of exercise at least 3 times at week. So many times, I wanted to give up, but at my mom’s 68th birthday party I’d lost 18 pounds (this was after 3 weeks). This accomplishment made me want to continue on.
My beginning weight was 321 pounds and now I weigh 250. I am 5’8″ tall. My blood pressure is now regulated and I am off type 2 diabetes medicine. My knee and back pain is not as severe now as well. I am a living testimony that it can be done. When I started, I was wearing a size 24 (some size 26 clothing). When I got into a size 20, I knew I could make it. Now, I can wear some size 14 clothing and this makes me even more motivated.
What makes me more happy than anything is that people get motivated by seeing my progress. With that being said, my goal is to reach out and inspire other people. I am scheduled to have knee surgery on both knees, but I am giving God the glory. I know he will continue to heal me. I have less back pain and knee pain now. On days where I hurt very bad, God pushes me and I continue to go on. You can look on my Facebook page and see where I have came from. I want to help my beautiful sisters, because all it takes is faith and trust in the Lord.

This is so motivating. I’m 58 and after my husband’s health problems we realize we have to make a change. We are on our second week of eating low carb and we are both addicted to carbs and sugar. Seeing your story is motivational. I hope we can be a successful.
