Hi Ladies,
I’m currently writing a “How to” e-book on Clean Eating, so I thought I’d reach out for some feedback from the Black Women Losing Weight Community.
What questions do you have about eating clean?
What would you like to see in terms of subject matter in a book on this topic?
I’d love to hear from you. Please leave your feedback in the comment box below.
Thanks so much,

What is Eating Clean?
When you eat clean you will be eating unprocessed, whole foods that are prepared or cooked in ways that don’t add extra chemicals and toxins. We are talking about fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, lean meats, meat substitutes like tofu, soy, whole grains, lots of water, healthy dairy and fresh juice. We will avoid fried food, fast food, junk food, bleached white flour, artificial ingredients, soda, commercial juice and sugary drinks, processed sugar (white sugar, corn syrup), and foods with preservatives, toxins, dyes, saturated fat, and trans fat. You will likely be cooking at lot of food at home, making green smoothies, eating salads, looking for healthy snack, and really realizing just how healthy you’ve really been eating.

Specific things to eat would be great for me. Like brands or what to look for. The hardest thing for me is knowing what to eat. I know what not to eat but then that leaves me empty on the things I should replace those bad things with…..I NEED VARIETY!!!!

I’m enjoying my new way of living healthy. I don’t crave alot of the foods I was use to eating and at times when I smell them it’s a turn off for me. The fat flush is an acquired taste but it works. I’ve been doing my exercises but not as consistent as I should but I pray alot and that keeps me grounded and focused on what I need to do for me. On May 8th I will be 50 years old and I’m working towards another 50 by being healthier and fit. I thank God for this site and a few new friends I’ve met with this site and just the overall help that I need to keep this journey moving forward.

What makes a food “clean”? What is “clean eating”? What oils can I use that would be considered “clean” would things like butter (or other condiments) be considered “clean” if I make them at home without the addictives?

I started to read up on Eating Clean during January’s challenge. During that time I purchased a few books that were really informative and gave recipes which helped me enjoy healthy food in a variety of ways. The books were good at informing me on what to stay away from, BUT, I would like to know substitutes. More specifically, substitutes for processed desserts.
For instance, I know to drink water rather than buy soda/processed juice, and to make my own juice if thats what I crave (i.e. by blending or juicing fruit, and making green smoothies); I know to make frozen dessert (blending frozen friut) rather than buy icecream. But I don’t know what to grab to substitute the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup that I crave…so…I grab a Reese’s…or a TastyKake. I thought I was on to something when they made 90 calorie snack packs, but, that’s not Eating Clean, its still processed. I feel guilty because I Eat Clean for my meals, but at night when the snacker in me comes out and has a taste for a cupcake,I don’t want an apple, nor a cupcake, but a substitute. Some people say that they detoxed themselves and no longer have the cravings that I am speaking of, which is great for them…but since I am not at that point, I don’t know what else to do.
