Erika lost 33 pounds with healthy eating habits and exercise. This mother of two was tired of high blood pressure, depression, and carrying extra weight. Now, she is thriving, and her confidence is through the roof.
I started this journey because I was suffering from high blood pressure, depression, and being overweight. I also have two active sons I want to live for and need to keep up with. I have lost over 30 pounds by eating healthy and going to the gym daily. My confidence and spirit are through the roof now.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation for losing weight and becoming healthier was being hospitalized for high blood pressure. I was put on water pills, which made me gain more weight, so I decided that I had to do something. The results kept me going. I was dropping pounds and feeling better on the inside.
How did you change your eating habits?
My eating habits changed drastically. I used to stop and grab a bag of fries every day on my way home from work. I stopped eating fried foods and began eating more veggies and fruits. I also started juicing and detoxing my body using my products. I did not use a specific meal plan because I felt it was too difficult to keep up with. So I just made healthier food choices.
What was your workout routine?
When I began working out, I would go for a 30-minute speed walk every day. I also would do a 30-minute home workout video. All total, I would work out for roughly 1 hour a day.
Now, my stamina has increased. I go to the gym every day for about an hour and a half. I always do 30-40 mins of cardio, followed by abs and arms. I also strive for 10,000 steps a day.
Starting weight/Current weight
When I began my transformation, I weighed in at 193 pounds. I currently weight 160 pounds.
What is your height?
I am 5’1″.
When did you start your transformation journey?
I began my journey in April 2020. It took about three months to achieve my current results.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, I didn’t have weight loss surgery.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that my body can handle more than I thought. I learned that you can achieve anything if you put your mind to it and if you want it really bad.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
My advice I would give is to just start. Get out of your own head and do it. The results are so rewarding. It won’t be easy, but anything that is great will always be hard. Fight through the hard times and believe in you.
