Transformation of the Day: Elethia lost 150 pounds after having VSG weight loss surgery. However, she gained some of the weight back while in recovery from alcoholism. She lost 25 pounds this year by Working out at home and practicing intermittent fasting, bringing her current total to 127 pounds.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
In 2013, I weighed 365 pounds, and honestly, I was just over it. I was tired of taking hours to get dressed because my outfit didn’t look the way I wanted it to look. The excess weight was also starting to affect my knees, back, blood pressure, and cholesterol levels. I had VSG surgery [gastric sleeve] in February 2014, and in nine months, I lost 150 pounds.
I got down to 215 pounds and maintained that weight until 2019 when I decided to get sober from alcohol. During my recovery process, I put on 45 pounds.
In July of this year, I weighed 262 pounds. I made the decision to finally regain control of my life. I quit smoking cigarettes and began to work out daily. I really want to be the best version of myself.
How did you change your eating habits?
I cut out carbs, fried foods, soda, and sweets. I began eating a lot more salads and vegetables. I’ve also been dabbling in gluten-free and keto options.
Intermittent fasting has been part of my routine since July. I fast from 8:30 pm to 12:30 pm.
What did your workout routine consist of?
I work out Monday-Friday. I do 20 minutes of cardio using the Team Body Project home workout videos. I also do 100 squats per day using my Bodymaxx Resistance Bands.
I’m committed to wearing my BodyMaxx waist trainer for 8 hours per day during the week and 4 hours on the weekend. On Saturday, I walk three laps around my apt complex (about 25 minutes).
What is your current weight?
238 pounds
What is your height?
5’8″
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
You only get one body, and it is so important to take care of it because the older you get, the harder it is.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
SELF LOVE is the most important thing when deciding to make a change in your life’s journey. It doesn’t matter if you alone are your biggest cheerleader. Make the change for yourself and no one else!
