October 2016 Update: Eleicia has lost 54 pounds and has gone from a size 16/18 to a size 10. She’s kept the weight off since we heard from her in January.
“I am down to 163 pounds, keeping the weight off and continuing to try to lose more. I have lost 5 inches from my belly, 6 inches from my waist, 3 inches from both thighs and 6 inches from my hips. I’ve gone from a size 16/18 to a size 10 in pants. I’ve also gone from a size 2X-XL shirts to size Med-Lg. I feel like a new person. I have so much more energy now. I have even become a certified Zumba instructor.”
January 2016 – Weight Loss Journey: Eleicia lost 51 pounds. After a nurse suggested that she consider weight loss surgery, she was upset. That incident gave her the push she needed to change her habits and lose the pounds. Here is what she shared with us about how she did it.
My name is Eleicia R. I’m 38 years old and I started my journey at the end of March 2015, when I went to a health screening. The nurse asked me if I had considered having lap band weight loss surgery. I was upset and sad at the same time. So, I decided to do something about it.
I’m 5’1″ tall and when I started my journey I weighed 217 pounds. Now, I’m honored to say I’m down to 166 pounds and still going. It has been a struggle, but I’m determined and focused on my weight loss goals.
I changed my eating habits. I started counting my calories, eating smaller portions and drinking a lot of water. I also cut out fried foods, cut junk food, reduced my calorie intake and started eating smaller portions. I added more fresh fruits and vegetables to my diet. Also, I workout 3-5 days a week, which includes taking Zumba classes, lots of cardio and a lot of walking.
My advice to others who want to lose weight is to never give up. Some days are a lot harder than others, but you just have to push through and stay focused.
