Hello! I’m Ebony, and I recently lost 60 pounds on my weight loss journey! I weighed 235 pounds when I started. Now I am down to 175 pounds.
I am a type 1 diabetic with severe knee pain. The doctor told me I needed to lose weight to reduce my pain, so that’s what I did!
As I continue on my journey, I will continue to eat six small meals a day and take daily walks. I’ve been walking every day for seven months, but now I hit the gym. I work out 3-4 days a week and recently incorporated weight training into my routine!
My journey is not over. I want to lose about 30 more pounds, but this is where I am. I’ve very proud of my accomplishments!
What was your motivation?
My motivation, first and foremost, is my health. As previously stated, I am a type 1 diabetic with almost every complication that comes with it! Also motivating me were the RESULTS! I saw that the more I walked and watched what I ate, the more weight that would fall off. I started to fall in love with myself all over again, and that feeling is indescribable!
How did you change your eating habits?
I cut back on fried foods and sweets. Heavily starchy foods as well. I try to stick with natural sugar (fruit) and lean protein. My favorite healthy food is a cold bowl of cut-up watermelon.
What is your height?
I am 5’3″.
When did you begin your weight loss journey?
I started at the beginning of the year [2022] as my New Year’s resolution.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No. I did it through hard work and not giving up.
What is the biggest lesson you’re learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is never to doubt myself. It’s about taking the first step and baby steps after that. I know that determination and faith go a long way. If I just take it one day at a time, I will reach my goals!
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
Trust yourself! Know it does not happen overnight, and you may not see results right away. But if you keep at it and keep pushing yourself day by day, you’ll get there! Start off small. The key word is Start!
