Ebonie lost 96 pounds with weight loss surgery. She is a mother of 4 and proud wife who didn’t want obesity or health issues to take her away from her family.
“Hi, my name is Ebonie and I had Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy surgery last July. I have struggled with my weight for over ten years and I reached a point where I knew I had to do something once I ballooned to 327 pounds. My four babies and my hubby need me. I am proud to say I am 96 pounds lighter and feeling great. It is still a daily struggle and some people feel surgery is an easy way out but it is not. You still have to make right choices everyday. I love this forum and good luck to you all on your weight loss journeys.”

Eboni…you look fabulous! You are such an encouragement. I am refusing the surgery for now, but am beginning to make conscious choices. I’m dropping slowly, which is okay, but I am shooting for 10 pounds a month. Did you have to have skin surgery? My sister has lost about 112 lbs with surgery, but has skin everywhere? This is depressing her. She still needs to lose about 60-70 more pounds. I’m going to share your story with her. Keep up the good work!

Hello Kim
I wanted to give some insight. I had the gastric lapband. To date, I have lost 91 pounds. My weigh in weight before surgery was 334 pounds. Now, I’m 250 pounds. I do not have the excess skin but I exercise at the gym 3 to 4 times a week for about 1 hour. I hope this answers some of your questions regarding excess skin.

Thank you for sharing your story. Weight loss is hard and sometimes medical assistance is needed. You look HOT!!!

Hi Ebonie! I am considering medically assisted weight loss – why did you opt for the vertical sleeve as opposed to gastric bypas? Are there significant differences or risks.
You look amazing. I found this website today – looking for weight loss success stories – real stories from women like me. This is an awesome tool – I am beaming to see so many sistas doing their thing. Congrats!

Can someone, anyone please help shed some light and or suggest to me what I should do to get out of the horrible delima I’m in. It’s a long story but I’ll try to shorten it. I’m 35 years old,5’8″ tall & I currently weigh 302.6 lbs. I feel so depressed that I cry almost daily. I want bariactric surgery but I’m so scared of the possibility of loose skin making me feel depressed afterwards that I can’t properly decide if I should do it or not. Obesity is deep in my family & my mother died as a complication of it on June 3 2012 at just 61 yes old. I think that thoughts of ending up the same way exacerbates the depression. I have fybromyalgia & arthritis & working out is VERY painful during & after. It’s like I’m getting bigger & more depressed but I feel like I don’t stand a chance of happiness as long as I’m morbidly obese, obese or just over weight. I don’t want to die & I have a beautiful 14 yr old daughter.

Hey creole lady, i understand what your going thru. Im currently 347lbs and I’m in the pre op stages of the VSG surgery. I plan to have surgery in june. I worry about loose skin as well, but ultimately i would much rather have loose skin than this extra weight ANYDAY. Strength training and shapewear will help out a lot. You have to decide what’s more important. I may never be able to wear a bikini after surgery with the loose skin, but im not able to wear one now with this extra weight…. You feel me? After surgery i may have skin issues but ill be a lot smaller & healthier for my kids. Im looking forward to feeling “normal” and my skin will not get in the way of that. Hope this helps! I wish you the best on your journey!

Hey Creole Lady, I’m not sure if you went with the surgery but I’m planning on going through with it and my mother has already went through it. She does not have loose skin and she is 42 years old. If you want to look at her pics her Facebook is Patrice Vinson Jones. My momma and the Surgeon stated that exercise and drinking a lot of water and staying away from sugar, starches and soda are key to successful weight loss. You want to keep the muscle you already have so you would need to lift weights. A lot of people get the surgery done and instead of loosing fat ( the loose skin) they loose muscle. Just make sure you follow your surgeons instructions and you get the results you . Good Luck with your decision if you haven’t already made it
