With focus and commitment, she changed her life and now she’s helping others do the same. Check out what she shared with us about her journey.
Wow! I’ve come a long way baby! Pun intended! It’s been an interesting journey getting back to the body I knew I deserved to have; increased energy, agility, strength, stamina to play hard and the ability to be active with my kids and my friends!
It’s been a wonderful journey over the last 2 years! It required a focused mindset, commitment to the final goal and fortitude to push through all of the excuses and BS that shows up in your life when you’re trying to do something amazing! It wasn’t easy, but I knew I needed to do this for me! Not to prove a point, but to feel fabulous, sexy, healthy, strong, lean and be the very best I could be!
What inspired you to keep going when you thought about giving up?
I always focused on my goals and the benefits of being healthier and more fit, like having more energy, feeling strong and feeling sexy.
How did you change your eating habits?
Eating clean is awesome. I cut out fried, oily, cheesy, buttery, sugary and salty foods from my diet. It was tough, but necessary. I started an organic Paleo diet, eating lean proteins, good fats and complex carbs. Watched my macros, watched my portion sizes. Also, I did 3 weeks of carb depletion prior to my figure competition.
What did your workout routines look like?
I did 4-6 days of weight training for an hour, 30-60 minutes of cardio sessions 4 days a week for 8 months straight. I worked with a personal trainer.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My heaviest weight during pregnancy was 190 pounds. In Dec 2015, I weighed 165 pounds. At the time of my figure competition 6 weeks ago I weighed 135 pounds. I currently weigh 145 pounds. My height is 5’6.5″.
How long did your transformation take?
8 months. Decided to change my life in 2015 and really started training hard in Feb 2016.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
Be consistent, I’d you fall off track, it’s ok… just get back on. Great nutrition and weight lifting worked best for me. Also, It’s great to have supportive people around you. Get sleep. Reduce external stress, and focus on your goal, no matter what.
