Transformation of the Day: Dorcas lost 83 pounds by cutting her carb and sugar intake. She now runs a low-carb meal prep business. Her journey shows just how important eating habits are. Check out her story.
After being prescribed Nexplanon birth control implant in 2014, I rapidly gained 60 pounds within a year. After researching, I found out that I’d developed insulin resistance. In 2017, I was ready for change. I began to cut my carb and sugar intake and dropped 83 pounds in 8 months.
Now I own and operate a low-carb meal prep business so that I can help others lose weight and live a healthy lifestyle too! It is my life’s
passion. Kudos to everyone else who gets up every day to do the same!
How did you change your eating habits?
I changed my eating habits but cutting out all carbs and sugar. First, I
switched to a ketogenic diet. Then, I switched it to a low-carb diet to
maintain my weight. It’s been almost three years since my initial weight loss.
What did your workout routine consist of?
For the most part, I did not work out. When I was working out in the past, it was usually 3-5 days a week. Back then, I did mostly cardio, as well as Pilates and strength training. That may have
aided in me “snapping back” easily.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 247 pounds. I am not 163 pounds.
What is your height?
5’6″
When did you start your journey?
January 1, 2017
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I learned that it is okay to be unsatisfied with yourself as long as you are willing to change whatever that thing is. We often sweep things under the rug instead of finding value in change. We must always be prepared to face change, as change is necessary for the betterment of who we are.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Don’t give up. Ever. Start over a million times if that’s what it takes.
I tried to lose weight numerous times and in various ways. It wasn’t until I found what worked for me that I got the results I always wanted. Also, be okay with discipline.
