Dianeka lost 56 pounds and several dress sizes. Keeping up with her energetic son was her motivation. Eating a plant-based diet and working out at home with Beachbody programs really worked for her.
My name is Dianeka J., and I started my journey on Feb 26, 2018.
What was your motivation?
My son motivates me. He is four years old and very energetic. I want to be able to keep up with him. He is my all time motivator.
What was your workout routine? How did you change your eating habits?
For a while, I would work out, but I did not see any results. I started doing research on food and quickly realized that going plant-based was the best choice for me. I started cutting back on carbs, including rice, flour, and bread. I transitioned to quinoa, cauliflower, and lentils. Next, I cut back on meat, eating mostly shrimp and salmon (with chicken occasionally).
I fell a couple times to the temporary indulgence of food that tastes sweet and savory, but I would quickly feel sick after. From there, I learned that temporary pleasure from food would leave me sick for days.
I started the Hip Hop Abs program. Later, I found myself loving the convenience of working out at home. I completed Turbo fire and just recently completed 80-day Obsession with my own meal plan (I wasn’t able to complete the timed nutrition due to my schedule and work).
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 196 pounds, and I wore a size 16. I currently weigh 140 pounds and wear a size 4.
What advice would you like to share?
Keep going, even when you see no results. Small steps amount to huge results in the long run. Even where I am currently, I still struggle. However, I keep up with my routine and continue forward despite being frustrated at times. There is an overall feeling of confidence, strength, and empowerment that comes from working out and eating healthy. It is an indescribable feeling. I love challenging myself and seeing growth over time.
