What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going during tough times?
My motivation was not wanting to become more depressed than I already was. My aunts passed away four months apart, and at the time, my son was six months old. So, postpartum depression was already there, sadly. My children were my motivation. I didn’t want to die from health problems caused by food.
How did you change your eating habits?
I changed my diet by not eating fast food, fried food, or anything that was quick to make. I started a seven-day challenge of fruit fasting two days out of the week and one meal a day for the other five. This changed my whole life!
What is your workout routine?
My workout routine started with walking every morning for two miles. With time, it turned into four miles. I would run most of the time to challenge myself. Later on, before I ended my day, I’d do a 30-minute workout on YouTube.
How often did you work out?
I worked out five times a week and did some sort of activity the other two days.
What was your starting weight?
My starting weight was 310 pounds.
What is your current weight?
My current weight is 245 pounds.
What is your height?
I am 5’8″.
When did your weight loss journey begin?
I started my journey in May 2023. It took 5-6 months for me to honestly notice a change, but others noticed at two months.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson is that it’s a mind game more than anything. It’s important to feed yourself positivity and truly know and love yourself. I’ve tried to lose weight for over seven years and I finally learned the key: self love. I loved myself enough to know I shouldn’t be eating unhealthy.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
My advice is to keep going, baby!! Even if you hit a bump in the road, please keep going. Your future self will thank you in so many ways.
