Transformation of the Day: Denice lost 75 pounds. Our young sista from Zimbabwe was being hit with insults and fat jokes about her weight. With the support of her significant other, who is a bodybuilder, she changed her eating habits and did lots of cardio, bodyweight exercises and weight lifting. Check out her story.
My name is Denice Pine and I have been on the path to weight loss. At first, I wanted to lose weight because my doctor had advised me and I ignored it. Then the abuse from other people about my weight started coming. I was 21 years old weighing 92kgs (202.8 pounds). The harsh words, unnecessary insults, fat jokes etc. It got to me because I am still very young. I don’t have any kids, so really didn’t have an excuse.
I started training hard when I met my partner who is a body building athlete. He motivated me and I just fell in love with the sport. Now, I’m a fitness advisor weighing 58kgs (127.8). I am 149cm height wise (4’8″ tall), so I’m not exactly the tallest one in the bunch. My BMI is close to perfect and I train 5 days a week to maintain and tone. It took me about 8 months to lose all the weight but I’m glad I went through, stuck with it and never quit. It was painful and stressful but worth it. I urge other women to do it for themselves, because in the end we look good and the confidence boost is just amazing
Eating Habits: I changed my eating habits drastically. I let go of almost all processed foods and started eating more vegetables, fruits and protein. Every time I wanted something to drink, I would have water or green tea.
Exercise: My workout routine was usually cardio for 45 mins to an hour, then weight training for 45 mins to an hour. Now, on average, I work out for 2 1/2 hours, sometimes 3. I do a 3-5 km jog before gym. I also do squats, crunches, lunges, leg press, sit ups, press ups, etc. The list goes on and on. I fell in love with the fitness industry. I am not perfect yet, but I am still working towards my goal to at least compete in one body building competition just because I can.
Advice: My advice to people wanting to lose weight is what I always tell my clients. You need to prepare yourself mentally and emotionally before taking up the challenge. I call it a challenge because of the ups and downs that one experiences when on their Weightloss journey. I also advise people not to just take up random diets because what works for Denice won’t necessarily work for Vanessa because if you look at it, my diets work with blood types, they are most effective because at the end of the day each person provides their body with what it needs and that’s aids weight loss.
