Demetris lost 75 pounds. She was tired of being limited to plus-sized stores when it came to shopping for clothing. She decided to start her weight loss journey after she couldn’t zip up a pair of jeans. Working with a trainer and tracking her macros truly worked for her.
What was your motivation?
My motivation came when I went into my closet to put on a pair of jeans from last year, and I couldn’t even zip up the zipper. Also, I was not too fond of the fact I had to shop in plus-sized stores. I hated being limited in terms of what I could buy.
What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
I have several Facebook friends who encouraged me whenever I felt like giving up. I would see a post of them working out or see their results, and that would push me to get up and hit the gym.
How did you change your eating habits?
I started tracking my macros and increased my protein intake tremendously. I also drank a lot of water over a gallon and a half a day.
What did your workout routine consist of?
I hired a trainer who kicks my butt three days a week. We do a combination of strength and cardio. I also do two workouts a day and work out with her early in the morning from 6 am to 7 am. Then, when I get off work, I do some form of exercise.
How often did you work out?
I work out every day except for Sunday, which is my rest day.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 305 pounds. I currently weigh 230 pounds.
What is your height?
I’m 5’10”.
When did you start your journey?
October 2019
How long did your transformation take?
My total transformation happened over a year.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
I did not have any kind of surgery.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
My biggest lesson was I don’t have to starve myself to lose weight. I actually eat more now.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Don’t starve yourself. You can eat pretty much anything in moderation and lose weight.
