Transformation of the Day: Dee lost 21 pounds. This tall young lady fell in love with fitness on her quest to release the weight and get healthy. Positive feedback fueled her drive to do the work. This UK sista also learned the value of patience. Check out her story.
When I started to see that I was gaining weight, I knew that I had to do something about it because being tall and overweight is not for me. For that reason, I decided to turn my lifestyle around by signing up at my local gym. From that day and onwards, I started to really enjoy fitness, which in turn motivated me to start eating healthy.
I began by cutting down on carbs, cutting out food that is high in sugar and high calories and cutting down on snacks. I started meal prepping and eating only veggies, fruits and grilling my foods.
When I started to see results in 2015, it motivated me even more to train harder and remain consist. I stated to become a gymholic and it changed my life for the better. Most importantly, getting positive feedback from friends and family, especially those who has not seen me in many years, made me more determined.
I work out 4 times a week. I do a lot of cardio, such as group cycling and jogging on treadmills, because it was the fastest way that my body started to shed pounds. My main focus now is toning up in all the right areas of my body whilst shedding even more belly fat. I’ve gotten involved in Body Pump, body conditioning and Zumba, as it challenges not only my body but my mind too. I also do a 30 minute work out after my exercise class. I have leg, arms and abs day weekly.
I am 5’11” and use to weighed 15 stone (210 lbs) and now I weigh 13:5 stone (189 lbs). As I am tall girl, I carry my weight differently and on top. I am very curvy which compliments my body really well. I hope to loose another stone (14 lbs) or so depending on how I look. Being a tall girl it’s important that I carry my weight very well and that I’m healthy.
Looking back, I have inspired many people around me, as they are into fitness now. All it took was hard work and patience. It took a whole year for me to see a major difference in my appearance, from being a size 16 to a size 12. This is s big accomplishment for me, as I never participated in any gym activity throughout my life.
The main advice I give to everyone is to stay consistent. It is important. When you have down days, it’s important that you pick yourself up and keep your body moving. A balanced life is not about creating temporary change, it’s about creating a new lifestyle. Don’t rush the process. Trust the results and eventually you will start to shed of pounds. Last but not least, know that hard work pays off and everything you do will always be rewarded.
My long term is goal is to help and push others to reach their goals. Stay tuned to my weight loss journey. Check out my Instagram page to see more before and after pictures. @deebrownsugar
