Transformation of the Day: Dee lost 181 pounds. She has been on her weight loss journey since 2012, and she refuses to give up. By adopting healthy habits, like cutting out processed sugar and strength training several days a week, she has transformed her life.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
My biggest motivation when I wanted to give up was looking at the drastic change photos on my refrigerator! Whenever I want to eat something unhealthy, I have to go to the fridge where those photos are placed, and that made me want to do nothing but eat healthy!
When did you start your journey?
I started On April 19, 2012, and have not stopped. I got results with diet and exercise. I’ve experienced many bumps and curves in the road, but in no way did I feel the need to give up on my journey. It’s been eight years on this path.
How did you change your eating habits?
I stopped eating all processed foods and started cooking my FOOD at home. I eat lots of protein, veggies, chicken, and fish. I have stopped eating ANY form Of processed SUGAR for two years.
Tell us about your workout routine.
I work out 5-6 days a week. If I’m not at the gym, I workout at home, doing cardio three days a week and strength training on other days. (HIIT, kickboxing, and Tabata) My main focus now is to tone and maintain.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
I’m not ashamed to say that my biggest weigh-in was 385 pounds. That was eight years ago when I began my journey! The last time I decided to weigh myself was in September 2018. I was down to 204.3 pounds. I haven’t been back on the scale because they are big distractions. Watch what you put in your mouth, exercise, and throw out the SCALE.
What is your height?
I’m 5’9″.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned on this journey is that getting on the scale every three days will not make the weight go away! I’ve learned to stay away from them and watch my clothes melt on me due to inches lost.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
Live your life! This is not a diet of any form. It’s called lifestyle change. I want everyone who is watching this page to know that IT IS NOT EASY. Trust me; the results sure are WORTH it.
Stay focused! No matter what struggles you face, don’t give up!
