Transformation of the Day: Deanna lost 40kg/88 pounds. After reaching her highest weight, she decided that enough was enough. She has zero regrets about having Gastric Sleeve surgery because her health was at risk.
Correction: We previously listed Deanna’s weight loss as 97 pounds due to our mathmatical error in converting from kg to lbs. Our appologies.
My name is Deanna. I am 26 years old, and I underwent Gastric Sleeve surgery in July 2019.
After years of enduring obesity from childhood to my early twenties, I decided that a drastic change was needed immediately. I ballooned to my highest weight of 134kg/295.4 pounds in January 2019 and decided enough was enough.
I researched weight loss surgery in 2017 but decided 2019 was the year to get it done. I have zero regrets. My life has transformed. In 6-7 months, I have lost 90lbs. Some may say I took the easy way out, but I did not undergo surgery to prove to the world how strong I am. My mental, emotional, and physical health was at risk, and I made a decision right for me to get myself in order.
What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up
Knowing how horrible I’d feel if I threw in the towel and lost my results. Also remembering how much money I invested into getting my health right.
How did you turn your eating habits after surgery?
I went Low-Carb. My meals were mostly plant-based, and I ate seafood as well. No poultry or red meat.
What did your workout routine consist of?
HIIT Training. One day a week, I worked with a ex-Semi pro boxer as my personal trainer for ten weeks in the winter of 2019/2020.
How often did you workout?
I worked out 4-7 days a week.
What is your current weight/weight loss total?
Current weight is 94kg/207 pounds and I’ve lost 44kg/97 pounds
What is your height?
5 feet, 2 inches tall
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
Your health matters more than what you look like.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Don’t wait to love yourself. Loving yourself happens at the beginning; everything else will follow.
