Deanna lost 50 pounds this year. She figured out how to change her eating habits, and didn’t let four knee surgeries and arthritis stop her from working out. Check out her story.
My motivation to lose weight was my many knee problems. I have had 4 knee surgeries from playing basketball. I also have chronic arthritis in one of my knees. So, whenever I thought for a second that I wanted to give up, I reminded myself of the pain I was constantly in.
My friend knew how fed up I was, so she suggested that I try a 30 day cleanse with her. During the first 30 days, I lost about 15 pounds. It went so great that I decided to keep going. I switched to gluten-free foods. I also took out all processed foods, sugar, corn, soy, fried foods and some other things that I felt were delaying my weight loss.
I started my journey the day after Easter. My journey has taken about 6 months total. I am 6’2″ tall and I currently weigh 247 pounds. I started at 297 pounds. I exercised almost everyday, doing an hour on the elliptical. I did some body strengthening monthly challenges as well.
If I could tell anyone anything to help them, I would say that this process is truly about committing to being a better you. It takes a lot of consistency and dedication. It is also a great idea to get connected to a team of people who also need help to take the journey with you for support.
