Detoxing
A few ladies have expressed concern about not feeling well during the smoothie challenge. Are you dealing with any of the following symptoms?
- Sleep issues
- Skin breakouts
- Bloating, stomach pains
- Headaches (common if you’ve been drinking coffee or soda regularly)
- Strange Food cravings
- Loose stool and constipation
- Fatigue
- Irritable or Emotional
- Stuffiness and Congestion
- Flu like symptoms
All of these issues can be signs that your body is detoxing due to all of the fruits, veggies, and clean ingredients that you are eating. Don’t worry. This is natural. When you eliminate or cut back on certain foods, especially processed foods, your body is able to switch from processing chemicals and work on the accumulated toxins in your body. Your body use your liver, colon, skin, etc to get the toxins out. This is great. You will not only be shedding pounds, you will be shedding toxins.
As the toxins and garbage move out of your body this is what is causing you not to feel well. Once 3-7 days pass you should start feeling better. You can slow down the detox if it gets too bad by eating a slice of bread or white rice. If you have really bad symptoms for more than 7 days, you may want to discontinue the challenge.
As a side note: I must repeat that because of how bodies dealing with illness deal with detox and extreme diet changes, people with diabetes, low blood sugar, kidney disease, liver disease, lupus, impaired immune function, ulcerative colitis, terminal illness, epilepsy, or other serious health conditions should consult their doctor before going on any type of smoothie challenge, juice fast, etc.

DO YOU SUPPOSE TO PUT ICE IN THESE SMOOTHIES OR JUST THE ONES THAT TELL YOU TO USE ICE??
ajima says
Hi Allison, You will need ice or water in all of your smoothies. Usually 1/2 or 1 cup. You can chose which one.
Ronnie says
Hi,
You wont need any ice for your smoothie if you have frozen fruit. The fruit I use is all frozen, therefore I don’t require any ice. Get frozen fruit at your local grocery store in the frozen section.
ENJOY!
ajima says
Ronnie: I do water instead of ice.
Michelle says
I actually have frozen fruit in my freezer that I got from a farmer’s market. I love my fresh fruit, but it goes bad long before I get a chance to eat it all. I started freezing anything that I couldn’t eat in 2-3 days. I have bananas, strawberries, and peaches. In the winter, I’ll go with the frozen from the grocery store.

Day#5. It is all good. The hotel I am staying in has a frig, but NO freezer. But, I will not be stoipped. I am adding ICE to my smoothies this week! I am having some skin breakouts from the toxins being removed. Hope everyone stays committed to loving themselves/program. Happy Hump Day Team BWLW!!!

Hi everyone! i am so glad you guys are sticking to this. I actually started mine on aug. 27th just a few days before you guys and if your thinking about stopping don’t! I have lost 12 lbs. in 7 days that is amazing and everytime i get on the scale in the morning it makes me move forward I was on the hcg last year and had great results but gained it all back. and when i just ate healty and excercised I would lose 5lbs in a month i am so excited that i have sisters doing this also please keep up the good work my detox symptoms were a fever blister and fatigue cause i wasnt getting enough calories but now i’m fine I have the nutribullet which i strongly suggest you get it is worth every penny. so now i have a smoothy in the morning with a large homemade soup and any fruits i want and i repeat in the evening cause all i eat in the morning i’m not hungry until then. and for the fatigue I am going to get a vitamin b12 shot works wonders gives me energy for and entire week. good look ladies! and I will post my results soon. don’t give up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Emily says
Hey Veronica, not be a stickler but that Orange Cream Smoothie is more for a dessert not a detox smoothie because the creamer, and vanilla pudding, and tang are all processed….which the goal is to eat all natural foods during the detox. Plus tang has alot of sugar (not natural).

I know about the flu like symptoms all too well. I just did a 21 day reset where one week was a detox week. I started to feel achy and feverish. I thought it was the detox…but I actually was sick!! Had to be taken to the hospital and all and spent 4 days there. Blood count was very low.
Detoxes are great BUT make sure to listen to your body. If any negative symptoms last longer than two days or feel worse than it should (and you’ll know) go to a doctor. Learn from me.
Stick with it ladies 🙂

Hi Ladies. Finding this site is an absolute blessing for me. I am starting this challenge. I am using fruits and veggies that decrease inflammation in my body; (i.e.) ginger, celery, cucumbers, lemons, mint leaves. Also using raspberries, strawberries, blue and blackberries. I have begun a lifestyle change journey and in doing so, I am discovering how utterly dangerous and debilitating “wheat” and “sugar” are for MY body. The stories here have encouraged me so much. Just knowing there are others who are on this same path is inspiring and uplifting. Thank you all so much for your transparency. I will drop in often to let you know of my progress. Blessings to you ALL!!
