Transformation of the Day: Dani lost 32 pounds with Keto and Intermittent Fasting. After regaining the weight that she lost five years ago due to the twists and turns of life, she was ready to prove to herself that she could be consistent and committed to a healthy lifestyle. Check out her story.
I started my journey five years ago doing the Give it 100 Challenge. I lost approximately 35 pounds that year and was feeling great. Then I let life get to me, and I fell off track.
I spent the last few years being inconsistent, and I gained all of the weight back. I would start a challenge and not finish it, eat healthy one week, and then eat a bunch of nonsense the next week. I’ve had to struggle with not letting disappointments and the twists and turns of life deter me from my goals.
This year I did a reboot of my journey. Today marks six months that I’ve been pushing consistently. It is now a habit and a new way of life. I have gotten better with staying on track, even when I’m not feeling my best mentally or emotionally.
What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
Just looking back at my journey over the last few years inspired me. I’ve had so many ups and downs. I want to prove to myself that I can be consistent and stick with this for the long haul. I know that I have it in me to do it. I just need to stay strong and keep pushing.
How did you change your eating habits? What was your workout routine?
On January 30, 2019, I started doing Keto and Intermittent Fasting. It was hard in the beginning, but once you get into, it becomes a lot easier. The weight was coming off slowly, and I was getting frustrated. So, I added working out to my routine at the end of April. I work out at least 3-5 days a week. Usually, I do cardio and some strength training.
Now that I have the nutrition and fitness parts working together, I see great results. I love the way I feel and love the way I look. It feels great when you focus on self-improvement.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
I started at 220 pounds, and I am down to 188 pounds. I’m 5’4″.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I think the biggest lesson I’ve learned so far is that nobody is perfect and everyone’s going to have good and bad days. I think the most important thing to remember is that if you fall off, just get back up and keep pushing. A lot of people fall off, think there is no recovering and give up. We’re all going to have slip-ups, but what truly shows your strength is how you bounce back from those mistakes.
What advice would you like to share?
I would say to anyone else who is thinking about getting started, “Start now!” Don’t wait till next week, the start of a new month, or the new year. Start today. Your beginning doesn’t have to be anything significant. Take it one day at a time. Do one small thing every day to help push you toward your goals.
