When did you start your journey?
I began my weight loss journey on January 6, 2022, at 304 pounds, after seeing a photo of myself taken in December 2021 and being unable to recognize the person. So that day, I decided to show up for myself and lose weight.
I started my journey in January 2022 with a lot of research. I joined the BWLW group on FB and studied what other women my size were doing. I noticed that almost all of the women posting success stories were calorie counting and/or intermittent fasting. I immediately began counting calories, eating at least 1600 calories, and drinking at least a gallon of water daily.
What was your workout routine?
In February 2022, I joined a gym and committed to working out for an hour, three days a week. I walked on the treadmill for 18 minutes on a 7-8 incline at speed 4 and lifted weights using the app ‘FitBod’ to build my routines. I noticed a change in my body within 30 days.
By doing this routine, I lost 10 pounds a month from February to July. I am currently down 65 pounds, weighing 239 pounds, and maintaining my weight loss. My goal weight is 180 pounds. I stand at 5’8″.
What advice would you like to share?
The best advice I can give to any woman on this journey is to show up for yourself every single day.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is no one can do this for me! Being overweight is hard. Losing weight is hard. We have to pick our hard.
