Update: Shout out to Diamond! She lost 23 more pounds for a total of 90 pounds gone.
Transformation of the Day: Danell (Aka Diamond) lost 67 pounds. Years of unhealthy eating habits and not being active took a toll on her health, leading to weight gain and high cholesterol. She not only learned what healthy habits work for her, but she learned the power of discipline and consistency.
A few years ago, I was obese, and my doctor almost put me on high cholesterol medication. Fast forward: I had babies, and I also had little to no self-discipline during my pregnancies. I continued eating poorly and not exercising.
With consistency and time, I was FINALLY able to drop 70 pounds. This health/fitness journey is NOT about perfection. Being healthy is about making small choices every day that will benefit your health. Now, every day isn’t perfect for me. I still enjoy certain foods from time to time but with much more self-discipline these days. Stick with me because I’m not finished yet. Body loading!
What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
What inspired me to keep going when I wanted to give up was seeing results, looking and feeling better. The results kept me going. I would think to myself, “Wow, I wonder what I will look like in 3 months if I stick with it!”
How did you change your eating habits?
I changed my eating habits cold turkey. One day I just cut out all junk – no fast food, no soda, etc. It was a struggle, but once I changed my eating habits, I started seeing results even FASTER. That helped me stick to the plan. I used a specific meal plan that I created for myself.
Tell us about your workout routine.
My workouts consisted of strength training. I work out every day except Sundays.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
Starting weight: 245 pounds
Current weight: 178.0 pounds
Goal weight: 165.0 pounds
What is your height?
My height is 5’5″.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey in 2018, but my transformation took three years total.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that everything I plan to achieve is waiting for me on the other side of consistency.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
My advice would be to change your eating habits first. Get disciplined with food and then incorporate a workout routine. Stay consistent and don’t give up!
