Transformation of the Day: Curtina lost 55 pounds. Before she started her transformation, she was eating lots of junk food and a whole 12 pack of Mountain Dew everyday. When her job created a challenge to encourage staff to release the weight, she decided to give it a try and it changed her life. Check out her story.
My name is Curtina T. and I am 34 years old. My weight at the start of this journey was 230 pounds. (Wow, I know right?) I was eating cookies, chips, cakes and pies every single day. In addition to that, I drank a 12 pack of 20 oz bottles of Mountain Dew everyday.
I always told myself that because I worked in a warehouse, I would never be able to lose weight. As the time went on, I never thought that I could stop eating junk food every single day and eat something like green vegetables instead.
Last year, in September 2017, my job started this challenge called “ The Biggest Loser”. The goal of the challenge was to see who could lose the most weight. The first, second, and third place workers who won would receive a cash prize. Every month, each person in the challenge paid 10 dollars into the pot. I thought,”Maybe I should try this.” Yes, of course I tried it.
I ended up losing 20 pounds by December 2017. The challenge came up again on March 1, 2018 and I joined again. I did everything I could to lose the weight. Sometimes I felt I wasn’t making progress, but I still kept pushing forward.
I ate grilled chicken, salads, lemons, etc, and drank a gallon of water everyday. I also walked on the track everyday and walked around my neighborhood to exercise the weight off. I basically did everything possible.
The challenge ended on June 1, 2018 and by that time I lost 30 pounds. I came in 2nd place in the challenge! I’m aos glad I made the decision to lose weight. It changed my life.
I never thought I could do this! My friend Brittany (who you featured this year) really inspired me. I saw her meal prepping and her workouts. My current weight is 175 pounds and my height 5’1″. The biggest lesson I learned through this process was to never give up My advice to others would be that everyone can do it if they put their mind to it.
