What was your motivation?
My motivation was being heavily bullied as a child due to my weight. I had unhealthy eating habits and was never taught how to eat properly. I was only told to stop eating so much. As a child, I thought that meant eating more. Fast forward, I now have children who are growing and watching everything I do, so I wanted to change for them.
What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My kids started getting bullied the same way I did. I wanted it to stop, so I started changing our eating habits.
How did you change your eating habits?
Instead of focusing on dieting, I started making minimal changes that took zero effort.
Weight loss plans didn’t work for me. I tried various plans, but I kept failing. So I started letting go of the foods that were hurting me, little by little. Instead of carbs, I added more veggies. I replaced regular noodles with zucchini noodles, etc.
What is your workout routine? How often did you work out?
I work out 3-4 times a week doing cardio and weight training.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 298 pounds, and my current weight is 195 pounds.
What is your height? 5’4″
When did you start your journey? March 2020
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
Yes, I had bariatric surgery in Oct 2020. I had a tummy tuck in Dec 2022.
How long did your transformation take?
I am almost three years in.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
It’s all a mind game. You have to train your mind slowly and be careful not to overdo things. Most importantly, when you make a mistake, be careful to reset and refocus on your goals. No one is perfect.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Stay focused and stay consistent. It doesn’t matter how many times you fail, keep starting over.
