Transformation of the Day: Courtnay lost 62 pounds. She knew things had to change when she couldn’t play with her son without running out of breath. Walking, working out at home and eating clean is the combination she used to get results. She’s experienced ups and downs on her journey, but she never gave up.
When did you start your journey?
I started my weight loss journey back in April 2015 at the age of 31.
What was your motivation?
The moment I couldn’t play with my son without running out of breath… that was my wake up call. I knew I needed to make a drastic change not only for myself, but also for my son.
What did your workout routine look like?
I started walking 3 miles a day around my neighborhood. I eventually worked my way up to walking 7 miles a day. I used exercise DVDs at home on days when I didn’t feel like walking outside.
How did you change your eating habits?
I gave up fried foods, sweets, sodas and pork. I started eating a Clean protein and veggies diet. I mainly stuck to chicken, seafood and turkey.
Starting weight/Current Weight
My starting weight in April 2015 was 268 pounds. By my 32nd birthday in November 2015, I weighed 207 pounds. By my 1 year anniversary in April 2016 I weighed 197 pounds, which put me at a total weight loss of 70 pounds. On my 33rd birthday in 2017, I weighed in at 205 pounds and I’m still overly proud of myself. My height is 5’7″ and my current weight is 206 pounds.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
Throughout my journey, I lost and gained weight but the one thing I didn’t do was quit. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that no matter the time it takes to accomplish a goal, never stop. Success comes to those who work hard for it.
What advice would you give to other people who want to lose weight?
To everyone on their own personal journey, my advice is to just enjoy the journey and always remember to have fun doing it.
