Contessa lost 97 pounds in 13 months. Consistency was essential when it came to her exercise routine. Walking on an indoor track and a treadmill, along with doing water aerobics truly paid off. Check out her story.
I usually don’t do this, but I’ve decided to share my journey. It’s ridiculous. I used to be so addicted to Cokes and junk food. I gained so much weight that I started having blood pressure problems and health issues.
One day, I got on the scale and told myself that it was time for a change. What really inspired me to lose weight was watching my favorite show, “600lbs Life”. I said, “If these people can eat right and lose weight, so can I.
I started my journey on January 15, 2018, a few days after my birthday. The first thing I did was got myself a gym membership. I dedicated my time to going to the gym six days a week. There’s an indoor walking trail where I started walking two miles a day. I also walked on the treadmill. I started off a little slow, working out for 15 mins. Then, I put my incline up to 6, like I was climbing up a mountain, and my speed up to 12. As I was walking, I looked down and saw a water aerobics class going on. It seemed interesting, so I thought, “Why not try it.” I started doing water aerobics six days a week for 1 1/2 hours. I gave up Coca-Cola, all junk food, fast food, pork and all types of bread.
The weight started coming off more and more. I stayed determined and dedicated. I started seeing progress during the 1st month of been dedicated. I lost 27 pounds. I was so excited. I could see a big difference in my body, and my health issues all started to go away. I’ve stayed focused and pushed myself even more to reach my goal. My goal was to weigh 180 pounds in nine months.
I lost a total of 87 pounds, and my weight was 186 pounds. So, I said to myself why not reach for the goal of 170 pounds. (Which is what I weighed when I was in my early 20’s)
Guess what? I reached my goal, Baby! My transformation was done all natural – no surgeries over here. I went from weighing…Oh lawdd! Should I tell y’all how much I was weighing?? Lol! Why not share my testimony?
I’ve gone from 267 pounds to 170 pounds in 13 months. My height is 5’8″. My clothing size was a 2XL, and now I wear medium shirts and size large in pants. I’ve gone from a size 20 to size 10/12. In dress sizes, I’ve gone from a 2X to medium/larget. Besides my back problems, I feel so much healthier now. I owe it all to God for seeing me thru my journey. I owe it all to my husband for being my biggest supporter and for cheering me on.
I made a promise to myself that I’ll never gain that much weight again in my life. I’m getting ready for summer 2019. I’m coming for ya! I’ve worked too hard to get this body back and just know that my husband approves.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned so far is that being healthy is really my biggest blessing. I am able to live a much healthier life. I’m able to look in the mirror and see that I finally got my body back.
My advice to other women: Be true to yourself. Stay focused, determined and committed. Don’t give up. If I can do it, so can you.
