Transformation of the Day: Clova lost 58 pounds. After getting sick and almost dying, she experienced depression and PTSD, which led to weight gain. By embracing Keto and Intermittent Fasting, she is reclaiming her health. Check out her story.
What was your motivation?
My motivation was desperation. I have been into health and fitness for about 15 years. In 2017, I got sick and almost died. Eating healthy just wasn’t a priority after going through a year of recovery and dealing with depression and PTSD. I gained a significant amount of weight. I was miserable and desperate to get my life back.
What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
Someone else’s journey inspired me. I thought, “If she could do it, then so could I.”
How did you change your eating habits?
I’ve always followed the standard American diet, but I am a student at heart. When I accidentally came across Keto and Intermittent Fasting, I studied and read everything that I could get my hands on about Keto. After two weeks of education, I dove right in with both feet. I have continued to educate myself ever since.
What was your workout routine?
During the first two months, I lost 30 pounds even though I did no workouts. My sickness caused nerve damage in my left arm, and I was still dealing with the mental trauma of going back into the gym. I couldn’t deal with the idea that I wasn’t able to do the same things physically that I once could.
After losing 30 pounds, I decided to start walking. I would walk between four and six miles up to three days a week. Once the weather changed, and it got cold, my physical activity halted. In February of 2019, I made a conscious decision to return to the gym. I only do cardio, but I have to admit that it feels good to be on the other side of fear.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 263 pounds, and my current weight is 205 pounds.
What is your height?
5’7″
When did you start your journey?
August 1, 2018
How long did your transformation take?
Seven months
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
I learned that success is nothing unless you can take a few people with you. I started my own Facebook group, Clova’s keto coaching for newbies. I’m coaching over 300 women with a hundred on standby.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Be honest with yourself about where you are and what you’re doing. Always, always, always have a support system.
