Tranformation of the Day: Clarinda lost 75 pounds. For this sista, releasing the weight and being healthy was a matter of life or death due to Lupus. She began her journey a year ago and she’s not giving up. Check out what she shared with us.
What was your motivation? What inspired you when you wanted to give up?
I have Lupus, so it was a life or death matter. No giving up! In high school, the school softball coach put a sign over my head that said “sleeping whale” when I was sick. Whenever I don’t feel like working out, I think of that.
How did you change your eating habits?
I started juicing after watching the documentary “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead” on CNN. I cut back on carbs and sugar, but didn’t deprive myself of comfort foods when I need them.
What did your work out routine look like?
I started out by walking a mile a day and using YouTube workout videos. My cousin Omenius, who is a personal trainer, also helped me a lot.
What was your starting weight?
310 pounds
What is your current weight?
235 pounds
What is your height?
5″3″
When did you start your journey?
Did you ever consider weight loss surgery?
No, I worked at a Weight Loss Surgical Center and I saw the dark side of it. I decided I could do it on my own and without surgery.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
That I am enough!
What advice do you have for other people who want to lose weight? Don’t ever stop. Love yourself today so that you can love yourself more tomorrow and be even healthier.
