Christina lost 60 pounds with the help of a workout buddy and by eating right. She’s gotten her 2 boys in on her new healthy lifestyle as well. Here is what she shared with us about how she lost the weight:
Hi, My name is Christina and I have battled the bulge most of my life starting around age 5. By 18, I was almost 300 lbs. and felt depressed all the time. My body image and self esteem were low. Since then I have been on a roller coaster of weight loss and gain. Over the years I have gotten in great shape THEN gotten pregnant soon after and then had to start all over again. This year I had enough! I started to care more about the processed foods. I was eating and horrible drinks filled with high fructose corn syrup that I inhaled like water. For the first time ever I realized I had never been disciplined enough to eat right, drink water, get enough rest and exercise consistently long enough to see results.
I decided to join a gym. I began exercising 3-5 days a week for at least 30 minutes a day. I raised the intensity up a notch by pushing myself to do cardio, strength training, yoga, Pilates, Zumba, spin classes or belly dancing 5 days/week. I pulled both hamstrings over the course of 6 months last year. How? By overexerting myself on too many occasions and not stretching properly before and after exercise. I also still ate fast food and my portion sizes in general were too large, so I saw limited results.
This year I found a consistent workout buddy! It really helps. I motivate us to work out. My friend motivates me to drink 8 glasses of water/day as well as eat mostly fruits, veggies & protein. I have two sons who NEED to see a positive example of fitness and nutrition. We all workout together now sometimes. I have also turned a space in my home into a gym. I have 1, 3, 5, 8 & 10 lbs. dumbbells, ankle weights, 2 stability balls, resistance bands & a heavy bag to punch out stress. We go for walks, love to swim, run at the park, ride bikes and stay moving. I’ve lost 60 pounds so far. I have about 100 pounds to go!
It’s been a week since I’ve worked out! I am motivated again by the opportunity to share my story in hopes that we will encourage and support each other to make lifelong progress. Be well. Be strong. Be confident. Love Yourself Better. Be Empowered. Be your Best.
