Transformation of the Day: Christina lost 105 pounds with Keto and exercise. At 30 years old, she was unhappy and concerned about how her weight was affecting her health. She decided to do something that would truly benefit her.
My name is Christina, and I’m 31 years old. In November 2019, I weighed a little over 390 pounds. I knew I had to take control of my life by changing my eating habits and literally working out every day. I have lost 100lbs and counting. This journey has been very challenging, but it was definitely worth it!
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation was myself! I knew that at 30 years old, 390+ pounds was not healthy. I was unhappy with myself. I decided to finally do something for ME, instead of doing it for someone else.
How did you change your eating habits?
I started with Keto. I adapted to a ketogenic lifestyle. In the beginning, it was tough to try to figure out what I could and couldn’t eat, so I joined a Keto Group!
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
When I began the Keto lifestyle, I didn’t work out at all. After about three months, I knew I needed to get into a gym. I joined a 30-day Planet Fitness challenge. Towards the end of my 30 days, I knew I was going to need something more challenging, so I joined a local black-owned fitness center that offers a mix of CrossFit, Boxing, Kickboxing, Jujitsu, and MixxFit.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 390 pounds, and my current weight is 285 pounds.
What is your height?
5’5″
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started in February 2020. It’s been a year and a half. (Natural weight loss)
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, I did not have any weight-loss related surgery.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I learned that you have to have determination and desire! You can’t do it on the strength of someone else. To change, you have to want it for yourself and NO ONE ELSE! Once you start choosing yourself, you develop a love for YOU that NO ONE can take away.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
CHOOSE YOU! Don’t give away the attention that you need to someone else! I hope my story can inspire Black Women and let them know they can do anything that they put their minds to.
